Body Bar
Systems Managing Director Completes Fitness Challenge
Drops
9.5% Body Fat; Donates to Augie’s Quest to Cure ALS
BOULDER, Colo. – April 24, 2008 - Body Bar Systems, Inc., a premier
fitness company specializing in products and educational tools for fitness
enthusiasts of all ages and abilities, announced today that its managing
director has completed his three-month commitment to increase his fitness and
decrease his body fat percentage, focusing on a sensible diet and using Body
Bar Systems’ products.
Although Tim Riley has worked in the fitness industry
for six years, his body fat percentage reached an all-time high of 25.5% and
his weight was 238 pounds. After
three months of regular exercise using Body Bar Systems’ products and watching
his diet, Tim’s body fat percentage has reached 16% and his weight is 212
pounds. The American Council
on Exercise (ACE) defines a healthy body fat percentage for men as
between 14%-19%.
“I
have learned that fitness is more of a journey than a destination,” commented
Mr. Riley. “I think a true fitness program should be a lifestyle choice and not
just a passing fad in one's life.”
Tim
has also learned the following lessons:
- It doesn't
matter if you fall off, only how fast you get back on the horse.
- Fitness is a
journey, not a destination.
- Objects at rest
tend to stay at rest. Objects in motion tend to stay in motion.
- One will never
regret working out.
- Fitness is more
about how you feel than how you look. A more chiseled physique is just a
bonus.
- The practice of
being active can be enlightening.
- One can get fit
and save money on gas by biking.
- Endorphins are
good!
Tim
plans to continue his fitness journey with the hopes of eventually reaching 14%
body fat.
“I
feel exponentially better than before starting the challenge, so I can’t
imagine going back to my old habits,” added Tim. “If I had to do it over, I
would give myself six months, allowing for things like travel, illness, and
other inconveniences.”
As planned when he began his fitness challenge, Tim
will personally donate $10. to Augie’s Quest for every percentage point of body
fat lost, honoring fitness pioneer Augie Nieto. Tim will donate $95. and Body
Bar Systems Inc. will match that amount. Including additional pledges, Augie’s
Quest will receive a total of $340. to help find a cure for amyotrophic lateral
sclerosis (ALS), more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
“I know it is not a huge amount of money, but I would
like to encourage others to consider getting fit and giving back at the same
time,” commented Tim. “It’s a
tremendous motivator!”
About ALS
Every year, an estimated 5,000 Americans learn they
have ALS, though its causes are still unknown and no cure exists. The
devastating motor neuron disease causes the progressive weakening and ultimate
paralysis of all the voluntary muscles in the body.
Survival is typically three to five years from the time of diagnosis.
About Augie’s Quest
As one of the most successful innovators in the U.S.
fitness industry. Augie Nieto has touched the lives of many in a multitude of
ways. At the age of 19, he purchased the marketing rights to the Lifecycle
exercise bike. In 1980, he co-founded Lifecycle, Inc., and over the next 20
years, the company, now called Life Fitness, Inc., grew to be the largest
commercial manufacturer of fitness equipment in the world. Augie currently
serves as chairman of Octane Fitness, and as an operating advisor to North
Castle Partners. He is on the boards of several companies, including Grand
Expeditions and Quest Software.
In March 2005, Augie was diagnosed with amyotrophic
lateral sclerosis, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Drawing
strength from his family, friends and a flood of supportive e-mails, Augie
maintains a positive attitude and continues to lead an active life. To learn more and to donate to Augie’s
